Niveous night. Skeletal branches crashed to a hunchbacked blanket of sparkling winterland. A leafless tree a dozen feet tall was accidentally severed by a snowplow moldboard. A man rushed out the door to check on the operator. The snow removalist was unharmed and while pulling away she said that the city would be obliged to replant another tree. The family man somberly searched within the tangled heap to find a single pink blossom.
